For population actually concerned in wearing authentic costumes, recommend manufacture a trip to a local costume shop. This would be fun to do as a group. Then you can enjoy pre-party fun by trying on costumes together and laughing together. Bring your camera to take pictures of one someone else trying on the costumes.
If possible, rent a movie theater for your party. It would be great if you could get the theater to actually show the movie. Possibly they'll let you hang a Wizard of Oz backdrop in the lobby. Think having your night-at-the-movies party during the week. Monday straight through Thursday would work because there won't be as many population attending as during the weekend. Find a movie theater that is comfortably settled for your guests.
Renting a theater might be out of your budget. In that case, you can have a movie-watching party in your home. Request your friends and family to join you in watching the movie.
In order to cut your stress, make your movie party double as a pot-luck dinner. Make each guest responsible for cooking a salutary dish and bringing it for everybody to enjoy. Call or email your family and friends to Request them. Mention that you would appreciate them calling or emailing you back to inform you about what food they plan on bringing. Then you can ensure that there is a good balance of main dishes, salads, desserts and drinks.
You might also want to use paper plates, cups, and plastic spoons, knives and forks. That will make cleaning up much easier.
You can make the decorations as plain or by comparison as you want. You won't have as much room as in a movie theater. However, you can still hang a backdrop. Find one in an thorough size to fit your home.
